External Users: Sconul Access

The SCONUL Access Scheme provides reciprocal access and borrowing rights for staff and students at approximately 170 member institutions in the UK.  Middlesex University extends privileges and borrowing rights to the following bands:

BAND A:  Staff and Research students

BAND B:   Part time distance learning and placements students

BAND C:   Full time postgraduates

FULL TIME UNDERGRADUATES may also be allowed reference use

First visit to Middlesex University

Please visit the LRC between 09:00 – 17:00 Monday – Friday and report to the reception desk/transaction desk where you will be registered as an external user and given the appropriate user card. You may, if you wish, download the Middlesex University registration form here and complete it before your visit. Applicants should also bring with them a passport-sized photograph.  You will not be allowed registration under this scheme unless you have with you a SCONUL access card and a current ID card issued by your home institution.   However, you could enter as a visitor

Entitlements

After the first visit, you may enter the LRC at any time provided you have with you the card issued by Middlesex University.  If you wish to use the photocopiers, please contact the staff at the same desk and they will enable this for you.

Except for full time undergraduates you are entitled to borrow five 28-day loans from any Middlesex University library. You may also renew a book that is on loan to you as long as the item has not been requested by another user.  However, you will not be entitled to reserve books, use the inter library or short loan services or view closed access collections.  In addition, access to licensed electronic resources is prohibited.

Middlesex University reserves the right to issue cards only to members of good standing and to withdraw access to anyone who does not observe LR rules and regulations
